The Monster

The wind howls like the wolf
Forcing the branches to grab me
I follow the road
Running away from harm
Gasping for air to fill my empty lungs
And hiding from The Monster
The Monster who haunts me
The Monster who controls me
The Monster who wants to ruin my life

Thinking The Monster can never find me
I run ahead to go and see,
See if I can find the key
The key that will help me succeed
Finding it would help my life return to the way it was
Before I had done anything stupid
It would help me become the human I was before

All I thought loved me deceived me
All I thought disliked me has helped me
What is this world?
Where am I?
What did I ever do to deserve something so dreadful?

I hear the terrible screech
It feels so close
As if it were right next to me
I hear it coming closer and closer
I hear its feet digging into the ground
I run behind the tree that I see in front of me
I try to catch my breath
My heart beats like a million drums

I am hidden
But not for long…
I feel the cold air flow down my back
I am to frozen with shock to turn and see
What lies behind me
