In the mirror
Is that really me?
Am I looking at the same face I show the world?
What is behind this mask?

So beautifully carved
With perfect lips
With extravagant detail

Although
All I know is
The world out there
Sees me as someone different
I know
This is not me

The ashes and scars
Tears and imperfections
Are hidden behind
This mask

I may look sweet
Im equally horrendous
The sour part is
Some see this side to me

What can I do?
It's who I am
I am not the only person in the world
With a mask over my face
Being mysterious
As the dark side of the moon

This makeup you see
Is an illusion
This glow
Is all an enigma

However
Behind all this
The real me is saying
"I want to be me
Can I be free?"
