Chapter 1: Welcome to Yesterday

  Things haven’t really changed. That same day is constantly on repeat in my mind. I don’t know if I am ready to move on. I live in a world called Yesterday. It’s the reminders of things I once had. The people I once had. I am not the only one living here. I, like many others, wallow in Yesterday. Yesterday is the home to many for those who cannot forget or choose not to forget. I’ve been to the same park everyday walking up and down the trails, watching the soft breeze kiss the leaves in the large trees around me. This park was supposed to be a happy memory, but now it’s a place with a haunting memory. I don’t know how long I have been here. I sit on the same bench every day and think about the horrific day. I would just stare to the sky and replay it over and over again.

  It happened about two months ago, it was raining and we were supposed to see the carnival at the park. Barloc was being the typical annoying younger brother. I don’t remember what we were fighting about, but it caused my dad to look away from the road for a split second. We didn’t see it coming; we didn’t see the truck heading straight into the driver’s side of the car. No one survived except me. The police report said that neither vehicle saw one another. They asked me what I remembered once I was conscience. The memory was, and still is, such a blur where, I can only remember parts of it. I remember my mother screaming, the glass shattering on impact, the amount of blood as I laid there extending my hand out to hold my mum’s lifeless hand one last time. I remember crying and then black.
